October!
Here you are
So soon, so late
But come, love me, hurt me, and stay
Keep an eye on me, keep me safe from me
Although it’s just the eve, not yet tomorrow
Mostly some hours to the month of the wolf
Things will get a little worse by then
Without a word of warning
My mood will take on tints of yellow moons
Waxing and waning, throbbing and sobbing,
In waves of overwhelming woe
Along the ebb and flow of tides that heave
From soaring sighs to sinking sorrow
Awry and amiss
Somehow erratic and lunatic
Watch me - but worry not -
Wandering and howling on wuthering heights
In rants that rave without a reason or a rhyme
There, over the top of the mountain and moon
I’ll be hearing voices known before my birth
In the ages of Abraham, even Methuselah’s mists
And I’ll be prayed to prove the praise of love
I, in an instant, will bow and bestow on a whim
All of a heart as a holocaust
Hoping heaven might be holding back my hand
I’ll be waiting for a saving sign, a superstition,
Some Kabbalah concealing the keys to catastrophes
Or marvellous myths a magic month reminds me of
Not a sign or symbol shall be shown for sure
Now the demented invent the coincident accidents
From an imagination fabricating destinies and fates
The tenth of ten, a glass of wine, a foreign tongue
I will be alert to all and any better omen
That helps to make a day and story holy
Of course, the tenth, the wine, the voice
All of these will pass me by
You as well Oktoberfest
But stay, at least until the day the dead can rise
